Plans In To Redevelop Former Camelot Site
August 25, 2017
Story Homes has submitted an outline planning application for a mixed-use redevelopment of the former Camelot theme park site to the south west of Chorley.
The plans feature up to 195 homes and an area for employment use that could provide about 80 jobs.
The proposed employment area would be a maximum of 32,292 ft² and include an office for the developer as well as small-scale starter/workshop units. These would be situated next to the existing employment units and the car park adjacent to the site entrance.
Story Homes’ development planner Siobhan Sweeney said: “Over the last 18 months we have been working hard to create a smaller scheme for the Camelot site that responds to the comments we received during our previous application.
“Following on from a public consultation with stakeholders and the local community on March 2017, we are now seeking outline planning consent for a new development of 195 homes, an office for Story Homes North West and an area for employment units which could deliver around 80 new jobs.
“The former Camelot theme park is in desperate need of regeneration and we want to replace this eyesore with a high-quality scheme that local residents and businesses will be proud of.”
Eckersley were retained by Story Homes to advise on the employment element within the development masterplan.
Andy Taylorson has worked closely with the Story Team and provided an employment report to support the outline planning application.
